become the first contestants ever to win the full \u00a310,000 jackpot on the game show<a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/08\/31\/marvin-humes-on-why-elton-john-would-be-ultimate-hit-list-contestant-15179215\/\"> The Hit List<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More than 250 pairs of contestants have attempted to win the top prize on the <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bbc-2\/\">BBC<\/a> One show.<\/p>\n<p>But ahead of series eight launching on Saturday night, someone has finally done it after more than six years.<\/p>\n<p>The Hit List sees contestants hear excerpts of music and they have to name the song and the artist who sang it.<\/p>\n<p>In the show\u2019s endgame, the prize money starts to drop after five seconds of music so the longer contestants take to answer, the less money they make. First \u00a310k winner in the shows history, and the other teams were great too.’<\/p>\n<p>‘Tom & Paul are probably the best contestants that have ever been on this show. Incredible,’ added Michelle Pryde, while another fan enthused: ‘ABSOLUTE SCENES ON #TheHitList. FIRST EVER \u00a310,000 WIN! Knows every song in literally 0.5 seconds. Fair play.’<\/p>\n<p>Events and marketing coordinator Tom said of their win: ‘We\u2019ve been watching The Hit List for years, this was our third time applying to be on the show, and it was third time lucky.<\/p>\n<p>‘We always knew that we\u2019d go on together, as you need knowledge of music spanning all decades.<\/p>\n<p>‘The two teams we were competing with were incredible, I couldn\u2019t believe when we go through to the final round, the adrenaline was immense and obviously over the moon with the result.’<\/p>\n<p>Marvin said: ‘I was starting to believe that it couldn\u2019t be done, but they came and proved us wrong, after seven years I\u2019ve seen so many attempts.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"457\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23703029 lazyload\" alt=\"The Hit List -
