Liam and Noel Gallagher have reacted to the death of a fan during an Oasis gig on Saturday night.

The man – aged in his 40s – was understood to be sitting in the upper tier of Wembley stadium as the brothers performed to a sell-out crowd.

Despite police and paramedics arriving quickly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness told the Daily Mail: ‘It was horrendous. The guy fell from a balcony. Paramedics came rushing over. There was a lot of screaming and shouting.

‘It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don’t know how on Earth it happened. It was heartbreaking.’

One fan, who was seated below the man in a lower tier, posted on social media about witnessing paramedics do their best to try and save the man after he hit the concrete.

‘I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see,’ she said.

It said: ‘We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night.

‘Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.’

A police spokesperson said: ‘The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.’

A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said: ‘The police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. Tonight’s Oasis concert will go ahead as planned.’

Last night’s show was the band’s fourth London performance as part of their massive reunion tour, with three more to come in the capital.

Last year more than 14 million fans tried to secure tickets for the shows, which kicked off in Cardiff on July 4.

It marked the first time the brothers had performed together since an infamous bust-up in 2009.

Over the next few months, they will also play shows in Ireland, Canada, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
