Inside Charli XCX and George Daniel’s 4am wedding afterparty with one strict rule

Newlyweds Charli XCX and George Daniel celebrated their London wedding with a raucous afterparty that included one surprising rule.
The Brat hitmaker, 32, first announced her engagement to The 1975’s drummer in 2023, after they’d dated for a year.
Following the intimate ceremony at Hackney Town Hall, the newly married couple then headed down the road to a local Italian eatery where festivities continued.
After pasta and champagne, the couple invited a group of their friends for a night on the town at Ellie’s bar in Dalston, famous for its pricey cocktails.
A source close to the couple shared some details of the password-protected celebration, which allegedly required guests at the door to say ‘Charli’ to gain entry.
‘Once inside, Charli and George had laid on a free bar, and there were trays of cigarettes lying around for the smokers,’ they told The Sun.
The insider also said there was a ‘no social media policy’ in place so that no one ‘posted any of the pictures from the reception online.’
‘It went on until around 4am when everyone crashed out and went home,’ they continued.
Charli previously confirmed that she and George, 35, were now man and wife as she shared a cheeky behind-the-scenes video on her TikTok account.
Filming herself leaving a room in her Vivienne Westwood gown, she joked: ‘when george isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle’. Thankfully, the dress had the desired reaction, with Charli adding: ‘luckily he did xx’.
And, as the evening progressed, the happy couple, who previously admitted they were more fussed about the afterparty than the ceremony itself, truly let loose.
As the ceremony ended, Charli and George headed hand-in-hand to the restaurant they had hired out for friends and family.
In a nod to their planned ‘second’ wedding in Italy later this year, the party kept an Italian theme.
Still dressed in their wedding finery, they ate and drank the evening away there until 10pm, when the evening festivities began.
After eating and drinking their fill, Charli and George snuck off for a quick outfit change before arriving at Ellie’s at 11pm.

This boisterous end to the day came in stark contrast to the intimate ceremony that had preceded it.
According to The Mirror, there had only been 20 friends and family at the wedding, including 1975 drummer George’s bandmates Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann.
Frontman Matty Healy wasn’t said to be there – although he did reportedly join his 1975 bandmate for a ‘wild’ stag do in Ibiza beforehand.
Instead, Matty, 36, was spotted in LA on Friday for a screening of I Know What You Did Last Summer, which stars his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel.
Their low-key nuptials follow reports that Charli and George were planning a blow-out ceremony in Sicily.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: ‘Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there.
‘It’s incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spared. It’s costing tens of thousands of pounds, and visually it will be mesmerising.
‘Charli and George said they wanted a massive party, and there are no restrictions on when the bar has to close, so it can go on all night.’
Explaining the more laid-back version that occurred this weekend, Charli previously said: ‘We’re both very chill, and we kind of just want to have a party.
‘Neither of us are particularly formal about marriage or care about the formalities of the ceremony or whatever.
‘We just want to be together forever and have a party with our friends.’
